RCC was officially initiated by International Master Sharan Rao in the month of February 2022 in the keen interest to spread and expand the amazing game of chess to everyone through online platforms like zoom or google meet using the latest softwares like ChessBase and Lichess. RCC has started classes in offline mode as well in Mangalore, Karnataka.

Hello! I’m Sharan Rao from Karnataka, India! I have finished my B.tech Civil Engineering degree in NITK Surathkal. I am also the founder and head coach of the chess academy named Rao’s Chess Corner (RCC).
Started chess coaching in the year 2018, taught around 100+ students from various parts of the world from being beginners to students having a rating of around 1900, ranging from 6 to 40-year-olds. 15 years of playing chess helped me gain complete understanding and maturity about the game which helps me express my thoughts about it very fluently to others.

⭐Started playing chess when I was 7 in 2007.
⭐Scored my 1st IM Norm in Sunway Sitges Open 2021 in Spain.
⭐️Scored my 2nd IM Norm in Maharashtra Open 2022 in Pune.
⭐Scored my 3rd IM Norm in Prague Open 2023 in Czech Republic.
🌟Crossed 2400 live fide rating on 15th July 2023 and hence became an International Master.
WIM Isha Sharma from Karnataka, India. The 1st Karnataka Women Chess Player to become Women International Master (WIM) in the year 2019. Having scored 2 WGM norms and with a peak rating of 2325, she has but one more norm to achieve to acquire the coveted Woman Grand Master (WGM) title. Joined RCC-02 as Head Coach in March 2025!

👑3rd WIM Norm in August 2019 at Hungary and became WIM Isha Sharma.
👑2022- Maiden WGM and IM norm in Piestany, Slovakia beating legendary Grandmaster Krasenkow Michal (Poland).
